Maska is my 2-month old Siberian Husky-Belgian Malinois cross pup. He's been with me for almost 3 weeks now. Before I took him in, some folks told me crossbreeds usually have behavior problems. I'm not a dog expert but somewhere in my mind, a theory lodges in there before I shot the question at Yahoo! Answers. I think dog behaviors highly depend on how owners raise them when they are still very young. Huskies and Malinois are both highly energetic and active. They also belong to the same class: working dogs.

I think Maska is a wonderful cross (also pointed out on Yahoo! Answers), bearing some slight resemblance to his Husky father but his build and form is more of a Malinois. Both breeds are also loyal and highly intelligent.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09806837835734908684noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1175445860938634195.post-39682378591961196712012-02-04T10:23:00.002+08:002012-02-04T10:23:20.224+08:00Lorem Ipsum

I could not seem to recall when was the last time I visited the K of C drive. The K of C drive is a place for friends, lovers, broken hearts, sunset lovers and some more. The place used to free, now they are taxing two pesos per head upon entrance. Vehicles are not allowed anymore inside (except for vendors) and there's a cottage rental at 100Php. As I approached the gate and asked the lady when did they start asking for fees, she replied 3 years ago. Has it been that long? I could still remember we go down and take a dip in its waters when we were bored during a hot summer afternoon. I could still remember running in the midst of the street and shout, "the hills are alive..." even though there were no hills around us. I could still remember us cousins playing a "seesaw" in the water using a "salbabida". Ours were made from patched up old truck tires. I could remember our eldest cousin as he swam further and further into the horizon and wished I had the same courage to brave the waves, the current, the seaweeds and to whatever that lurks below these waters.

Still, I could not find myself when was the last time I was here.
For people with diabetes, this is a message about empowerment through education. For governments, it is a call to implement effective strategies and policies for the prevention and management of diabetes to make sure that their citizens with and at risk of diabetes receive the best possible care. For healthcare professionals, it is a call to improve knowledge so that evidence-based recommendations are put into practice. For the general public it is a call to understand the serious impact of diabetes, to know how to identify the condition and, where possible, know how to avoid or delay diabetes and its complications.
Now, here's a similar story written by an elderly woman who died in the geriatric ward of Ashludie Hospital near Dunde, England. The poem was found among her possessions and so impressed the staff that copies were made and distributed to every nurse in the hospital. Although it is addressed to the nurses who cared for the woman in her last days, the message is a powerful lesson for us all.

What do you Is Still My Dadby: Author Unknown

To Each Staff Member of this Facility:

As you pick up that chart today and scan that green Medicaid card, I hope you will remember what I am about to say. I spent yesterday with you. I was there with my mother and father. We didn't know where we were supposed to go or what we were supposed to do, for we had never needed your services before. We have never before been labeled charity.

I watched yesterday as my dad became a diagnosis, a chart, a case number, a charity case labeled "no sponsor" because he had no health insurance. I saw a weak man stand in line, waiting for five hours to be shuffled through a system of impatient office workers, a burned-out nursing staff and a budget-scarce facility, being robbed of any dignity and pride he may have had left. I was amazed at how impersonal your staff was, huffing and blowing when the patient did not present the correct form, speaking carelessly of other patients' cases in front of passersby, of lunch breaks that would be spent away from this "poor man's hell."

My dad is only a green card, a file number to clutter your desk on appointment day, a patient who will ask for directions twice after they've been mechanically given the first time. But, no, that's not really my dad. That's only what you see. What you don't see is a cabinetmaker since the age of 14, a self-employed man who has a wonderful wife, four grown kids (who visit too much), and five grandchildren (with two more on the way) - all of whom think their "pop" is the greatest.

This man is everything a daddy should be - strong and firm, yet tender, rough around the edges, a country boy, yet respected by prominent business owners. He's my dad, the man who raised me through thick and thin, gave me away as a bride, held my children at their births, stuffed a $20 bill into my hand when times were tough and comforted me when I cried. Now we are told that before long cancer will take this man away from us.

You may say these are the words of a grieving daughter lashing out in helplessness at the prospect of losing a loved one. I would not disagree. Yet I would urge you not to discount what I say. Never lose sight of the people behind your charts. Each chart represents a person - with feelings, a history, a life - whom you have the power to touch for one day by your words and actions. Tomorrow it may be your loved one - your relative or neighbor - who turns into a case number, a green card, a name to be marked off with a yellow marker as done for the day.

I pray that you will reward the next person you greet at your station with a kind word or smile because that person is someone's dad, husband, wife, mother, son, or daughter - or simply because he or she is a human being, created and loved by God, just as you are.Nurse Presshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03557195226848170447noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1175445860938634195.post-11885011901008967972010-12-04T18:24:00.009+08:002011-03-17T23:20:21.167+08:00National Core Competency StandardsI've recoded the National Core Competency Standards For Filipino Nurses to give it a little boost in typography.
